Girls Just Want to Have Fun

I own a Canon, you better watch out…
This is Toddler N’s new baby sister. Isn’t she a little doll! I’d never done newborn pictures before, but I thought they turned out really well. It helped that Baby G is just about the calmest baby I’ve ever met! She was completely chill for the whole shoot. She probably got it from her mommy. You would never have guessed Mommy M had just had a baby. She was just so beautiful and organized.

This is my friend Mommy M and Toddler N. We took these at her house and at the local park. Photographing children is significantly different than photographing adults. Adults you can ask them to do crazy things like lay down in really cold water and they’ll say sure, ok, why not. Toddlers, you give them blocks and they look at you like, “Yeah right, your camera’s a way cooler toy then this, even I know that.”

This is Mommy B and Big Sister M. We took them at Mommy B’s house and the local park. Big Sister M is actually only 9 days older than my daughter Felicity! It was neat to see a little one at about the same development as her (although Big Sister M is already potty trained, to which I was infinitely jealous).

I have about a million of the girls running away from me. There are so many more interesting things besides mom and the camera!
The first is Seporah up at North Shore. The second is Felicity at the Honolulu Tabernacle.

This is my friend and co-worker Mommy A. We took these down at her house and Waikiki. It was a Sunday and I don’t think any of us knew how crowded Waikiki was going to be. When I first saw all the people I thought about taking pictures someplace else, but due to the sun setting we really didn’t have enough time to go to another beach. What I didn’t take into consideration is how quickly people move away from a large camera (while at the same time staring at it intently). Mommy A and Daddy K said they felt famous with everyone staring and the camera, like they were being chased by the paparazzi! Baby M slept through the whole thing. No worries about our camera shy little one, I think they turned out wonderfully. Of course it doesn’t hurt that Mommy A is beautiful!

My Dad had a long lay over here in Hawaii. The girls talk to Grandma on the phone a lot and when I told them Grandpa was coming they kept on asking where Grandma was. I tried to correct them enough that my Dad didn’t have a gender complex, but it didn’t stick and he was Grandma all morning.

Hello! My name is Märia (rhymes with Daria). I’ve decided to make a blog putting up some of my photography. I currently reside on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. I work full time as a nurse, this is my hobby. I currently use a Canon 50D with iPhoto and Photoshop CS3. I figured I’d start with 2 pictures of my daughters since they are my most usual subjects. Seporah is 3 1/2 and Felicity is turning 2 next month (where does the time go?).
